- Released the tenth edition of Growing Up in Houston, which tracked 130 quality of life indicators of children in Harris County. Each section concludes with Agendas for Change, a short summary of the section’s most pressing policy recommendations.
- Spearheaded a collaborative year-long effort to establish a mental health docket which will divert juvenile offenders with mental illness to community based treatment rather than incarceration in the juvenile justice system when appropriate.
- Developed and launched a broad educational outreach campaign to improve and increase the identification of victims of human trafficking especially minor sex trafficking victims.
- Hosted the 3rd annual Education Reform Conference focused on enhancing the social, emotional, and academic learning of middle school youth for better academic and life outcomes. This all day conference brought together over 30 experts and educated close to 350 administrators, teachers, and parents.
- The PPLC provided professional internships for thirteen graduate level public policy, law, and undergraduate students.
- Hosted the 2nd annual Latino Children’s Health Initiative which consisted of over 160 public service announcements on radio and television targeting health issues directly related to Latino children and culminated in the Nuestra Familia, Nuestra Salud Children’s Health Fair which served over 3,000 members of the Latino community.
