Laura Nelson joined the CHILDREN AT RISK staff in the summer of 2009 as Project Coordinator. In 2007, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Southwestern University, where she interned in the University Relations Department. In 2009, she received her Master of Arts in Organizational Communications and a Certificate of Business from the Mays School of Business at Texas A&M University. Before coming to CHILDREN AT RISK, Laura spent summers as a director of the City of Richardson Elementary summer camp program for over five years. As her job search began in Houston, she sought out a career that integrated her love of working with children and organizing events. Her focus on Corporate Relations and Special Events hits the mark! Laura served as Project Coordinator, Assistant Director of Development and Communications, and is now serving as CHILDREN AT RISK’S Director of Strategic Partnerships. Laura is a proud Aggie, loves her job, and is happy to call Houston her home!
