Which teacher had the greatest impact on you?
Mr. Drews my high school chemistry and homeroom teacher. I didn’t appreciate a lot of what he told me at the time. But now when I look back at the times he grilled me and chewed me out I realize that he was trying to help me and not criticize me. He taught me to hold myself to a higher standard than “good enough” and how to approach a problem even if it seems impossible.
What was your favorite book as a child?
A Porcupine Named Fluffy. My parents read it to me so many times I had it memorized word-for-word and could turn the pages at the right time so my parents thought I was reading really early until I couldn’t do it with any other book
What is your dream for Texas children?
My dream for Texas children is that every child gets the chance to fulfill their potential, encouragement to pursue their interests, and have opportunities to succeed.
