3rd Annual Human Trafficking Summit

October 11, 2012 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

This year’s Texas Human Trafficking Summit brought together more speakers and guests than ever before and was our first hosted in North Texas. The 2-day event began with a gallery night where Sergeant Byron Fassett, of the Dallas Police Department’s High Risk Victims and Trafficking Unit, was recognized for his work to serve the victims of human trafficking.

The Texas Human Trafficking Summit continued the following day, bringing together a variety of experts to explore the emerging issues of domestic minor human trafficking. The summit provided a platform for discussion on several critical areas including safehouse core components, safe harbor legislation, policy recommendations, and innovative prevention and protection initiatives. Participants had an opportunity to engage in discussion on each of these areas in order to increase their understanding of the issues and develop their own plan of action.

For more information about how you can get involved in anti-human trafficking efforts in North Texas and Texas, contact Jaime Hanks Meyers at jhanks@childrenatrisk.org.
