CHILDREN AT RISK partnered with The Dallas Morning News for the second year to release the results of its annual Public School Rankings Report to the Greater Dallas community. This year, CHILDREN AT RISK evaluated and ranked 170 high schools, 309 middle schools, and 769 elementary schools in Greater Dallas (comprised of nine counties: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Rockwall, and Tarrant).
For the second consecutive year, The School of Science and Engineering at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center tops the list as the number one high school. Researchers based their methodology on 14 measures of performance to evaluate how well Dallas public high schools are preparing students for post-secondary success. Among them was the graduation rate, participation in advanced coursework, and performance on college entrance exams.

In addition, CHILDREN AT RISK researched and ranked 309 middle schools and 769 elementary schools in the Dallas metropolitan area. CHILDREN AT RISK measured the success of middle and elementary schools based on indicators including ‘commended’ performance on TAKS, attendance rate, and retention rates to determine how well area schools are preparing their students for secondary and post-secondary success. The top five schools for these categories are listed below.
