Collaborative for Children is a leader in early childhood education—at the forefront of readying young children for the 21st century with bold, visionary early learning initiatives like Collab-Lab and Centers of Excellence.  Our goal is to ensure quality early learning equity for all Houston-area children and to help support those who are most influential in their lives.  We collaborate with parents, educators, and local leaders to give children the skills and tools they need for life-long achievement by building a complete community based early learning system focused on vastly improving child outcomes so all kids can become Collab Kids.

SEARCH’s House of Tiny Treasures (HTT) is one of the few early childhood education programs in Houston dedicated exclusively to serving children of homelessness. Without a program like HTT, our at-risk students will start kindergarten behind their more advantaged peers. HTT’s program includes a renowned curriculum, nutritious meals, transportation, and hands-on learning experiences, as well as individualized art, speech, and play therapy, to address the children’s needs and prepare them to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.  By investing in the next generation, we are showing our students that their young lives are not defined by the trauma they’ve experienced, but rather that they are full of potential, possibility, and promise.

Small Steps Nurturing Center provides a high-quality education, social and emotional support, a nurturing Christian environment, transportation, and nutritious meals to economically at-risk children ages two through six living in the Fifth Ward and Gulfton communities of Houston, Texas. Comprehensive early childhood education programs are a scientifically supported intervention for low-income children. Small Steps’ nationally accredited program seeks to narrow the opportunity gap for our students and supports their holistic development, with the ultimate goal of changing the cycle of intergenerational poverty for their families and community.
