About Jamey

James “Jamey” Caruthers is a Sr. Staff Attorney at CHILDREN AT RISK. Jamey graduated from the University of Houston Law Center in 2008, and focused on commercial and corporate litigation at Fridge & Resendez, LLC prior to joining C@R in September 2014. Jamey also has legislative experience working for a political action committee, and is excited to be part of an organization that is driving positive policy changes on the behalf of Texas’ children. Jamey was first drawn to children’s issues as a result of his family going through the adoption process to adopt their youngest child, Genevieve. They also have a son named Julian.  Jamey is president of the parish council at his church, and is active in the Fort Bend County community.

Which teacher had the greatest impact on you?

Dr. Edward Fuchs at the University of Houston.  Dr. Fuchs encouraged me to go to law school. I try not to hold it against him.

If there were a movie of your life who would play you?

Chris Pine, according to the quiz I just took on the Internet.

What is your dream for Texas children?

That every child grows up in a healthy, loving supportive environment that offers him or her every chance to learn and develop but still leaves plenty of room to just be a kid.
