This year‘s Equity Summit will bring together statewide experts as we explore equity issues that impact Texas Children. This summit will then present opportunities to address these challenges, highlight the work already being done in the field, and prepare attendees with best practices to support children. A learning and sharing event, this summit is one of the most highly rated and inspirational events of the year.

Children at Risk is seeking early career scholars in Texas, including graduate students and those within five years of post-doc, to present their ongoing research projects related to equity at the upcoming summit with the theme “Cultivating Tomorrow’s Equity Leaders: A Path to Inclusivity.” To participate, applicants must submit their proposals using the provided request for proposals (RFP) form, showcasing research that is currently in progress or near completion, excluding projects in the planning phase. Accepted presenters will have approximately 5 minutes to share their work in the form of a virtual poster during the live webinar event. Priority will be given to sessions addressing key competencies such as strategies to address equity challenges in higher education, current policy and research on rights in Texas communities, and success stories in organizing, bargaining, or communicating for equity. Proposals are due by January 8, 2024, with notifications sent by January 19. Eligibility requires scholars to be enrolled in a graduate degree program or within five years post-graduation at the time of application.
