CHILDREN AT RISK is the only nonprofit organization driving macro-level change for the children of Texas by focusing solely on the well-being of the whole child. The organization conducts research and advocacy, actively advising legislators to improve the quality of life for Texas’ children in the areas of health and nutrition, education, human trafficking and parenting.
On September 17, we need YOU to show your support to make North Texas children a priority and ensure ample resources are available for them and their families to thrive. Give $25 or more via NorthTexasGivingDay.org on September 17th between 6:00 am and midnight and your donations will be multiplied from a pool of $2 million of bonus funds and prizes!
Support North Texas Parents
There is no greater influence in the life of a child than that of a parent. Parents serve as a child’s first teacher, providing guidance and reassurance, and serving as the first role model in a child’s life.
Being a parent is not easy, and all parents struggle with raising their children from time to time. Evidence-based parent education programs prevent child and family problems, improve parenting skills and family communication, and educate parents on child development and positive parenting practices with a goal of developing safe, healthy and nurturing parent-child relationships and children.
The Center for Parenting and Family Well-Being is making evidence-based parent education available to more families in our state, with benefits including positive parent-child interaction, child developmental skills and knowledge, and stronger parental relationships.
We also know that school breakfast dramatically improves access to healthy food for children, while increasing their attentiveness and classroom performance. 20% of households in Dallas County and 17% of households in Tarrant County struggled with food insecurity last year before CHILDREN AT RISK advocated for the successful SB376.
This year, over one million children who were eligible for, but not receiving, a free or reduced school breakfast are now starting their day fed and ready to learn!
To support the Center for Parenting and Family Well-Being and the Center for Child Health Research and Policy, give $25 or more on September 17 between 6:00 am and midnight and your donation will be multiplied from a pool of $2 million of bonus funds and prizes!
