Human Trafficking Press Conference

CHILDREN AT RISK hosted a press conference to celebrate the recent launch of the Human Trafficking Prevention Business Partnership program and encourage businesses to apply. This program is administered by the Secretary of State and was created by House Bill 2511 (Thompson/Huffman), which CHILDREN AT RISK helped pass in 2015. This program creates an important avenue for businesses to join the fight against trafficking.

Publication on Demand

DemandThanks to the generous support of the Texas Bar Foundation, CHILDREN AT RISK is pleased to announce the release of its latest publication, The Sex Trafficking Marketplace: Addressing Demand through Legislation and Tactics. In order to better understand the sex trafficking market, the book provides an in-depth look at its components: suppliers, the victim supply, and the purchasers of victims.  Also included is an overview of federal and Texas anti-trafficking laws and how these laws address demand within their texts.  For the first time, data on buyer arrests in Texas has also been and collected and analyzed, providing valuable information on who is buying sex and how law enforcement jurisdictions are addressing demand. Human Trafficking Awareness Tours

Dates are set for our 2016 human trafficking awareness tours in Houston and North Texas. These educational events provide an opportunity for community members to learn about sex trafficking and the high demand for commercial sex in our state. Participants will discover that the underground sex economy is thriving in their community and learn how to be engaged in the fight against human trafficking. The first awareness tours will take place in Houston on January 21 and in Dallas on February 4.
