Rooted in principles of racial equity, this event zooms in on the critical topic of Discipline disparities, educational equity in Houston, Texas. Leveraging insights from the Texas Racial Equity Collaborative’s (TREC) seminal report, “State of Inequity: Dreams Deferred,” published in 2023, the tour aims to meticulously examine the intricacies of PreK-Grade 3 alignments and their profound impact on educational equity. Through tailored engagements with a diverse array of stakeholders, including elected officials, media outlets, and community partners, the tour will delve deep into the multifaceted challenges faced by communities of color, encompassing fair justice, educational equity, health disparities, and beyond.
As the tour navigates through regional stops in North Texas, West Texas, Central Texas, and the Gulf Coast, it will facilitate in-depth discussions, press conferences, and presentations, shedding light on the specific hurdles and successes unique to each locality. With a primary mission to foster meaningful dialogue, gather invaluable community feedback, and spotlight effective initiatives and collaborations combatting racial inequities, the Texas Equity Tour is poised to lay the groundwork for future research, education, and advocacy endeavors spearheaded by C@R and TREC.
