During the 86th Texas Legislative Session, CHILDREN AT RISK diligently supported legislation that would improve access to quality child care across Texas. To help legislators understand the scope and impact of child care deserts in their home districts, C@R created Child Care Desert Profiles for every state House and Senate district.
C@R is thrilled the Texas Legislature ultimately prioritized early education by passing House Bill 3 and House Bill 680. HB 680 by Rep. Deshotel/Lopez (Sen. Watson/West) improves coordination, transparency, and efficiency within and among Texas’ early childhood education programs, as well as prioritizes professional development aimed at improving the quality of the workforce in our early education centers. HB 3 by Rep. Huberty (Sen. Taylor) provides an additional $6 billion to Texas public education system and the allotment for full-day Pre-K among other wins for children!
District Profiles for each chamber of the 86th Texas Legislature can be viewed & shared via the reader below.
