Please join CHILDREN AT RISK and its partners for our annual

CHILDREN’S LAW SYMPOSIUM

Hear legislators, attorneys and other experts conduct an in-depth exploration of four issue areas affecting Texas’ children:

Juvenile Justice and Juvenile Mental Health

Education

Immigration

Human Trafficking

This year’s symposium will provide participants with views from the legal industry’s top minds on crucial aspects of childhood, including a panel discussion on school discipline with Deborah Fowler, Deputy Director of Texas Appleseed, Dustin Rynders, Supervising Attorney with Disability Rights Texas, and Sarah Guidry, Interim Executive Director of the Earl Carl Institute at Thurgood Marshall School of Law.  These talks will be followed in the afternoon, among others, by a discussion on immigration by Claudia Kolker, author of The Immigrant Advantage, and a talk regarding the decriminalization of child-trafficking victims from Ann Johnson, who represented the minor in the 2010 case, In re. B.W., heard before the Texas Supreme Court.
