Young Texans aged 16-24 are crucial to not only our workforce but our economic future, yet 13% are neither in school nor working. These opportunity youth and young adults (OYYA) need support to reconnect and become college or career ready.
This group represents a vital part of our future, and they deserve accessible pathways to reconnect and realize their potential. By strengthening accountability, improving coordination across systems, and focusing services on the needs of young people, Texas can help reconnect 492,390 OYYA to education and employment while building the skilled workforce our economy depends on.
